Do you really have to be one of these to do Crossfit?


The biggest misconception of CrossFit is that you need to be in good shape before you come in. One very important idea to keep in mind is that you don’t have to be in shape to get in shape.

CrossFit is scalable. Scaling is taking a movement and altering it to fit the needs of an individual (any individual). In fact, our program is designed for scalability and applies equally well to all individuals regardless of age or fitness level. By varying the load and intensity, we start you at a level appropriate to your fitness and experience. With commitment and hard work you will achieve greater general fitness and a high degree of athleticism. We emphasize fundamental, functional movements with proper technique. You will learn and get fit with ever-changing workouts that combine bodyweight exercises, weightlifting, and a huge variety of high-intensity drills that combine cardio and strength challenges at the appropriate level for each person. The incentive provided is always varied and the results are dramatic. The atmosphere is totally supportive to anyone willing to put in the work.

Most CrossFitters, people who regularly work out at a CrossFit gym, were regular people who, through hard work and dedication, made themselves better than average. To simplify things, if you show up and don’t quit, you will get the results you’re after.

Will lifting heavy weights make me bulky?

This is definitely one of the biggest concerns from our prospective female members. The short answer to this question is no, CrossFit will not make you bulky.

Lifting heavy weights produces tight, dense muscle fibers. Once the layer of fat is reduced, the muscle is revealed and the ever-so-popular “toned” look appears. Some rare people are genetically programmed to get bigger than others, but they are the exception. For the vast majority of us, it takes a lot of eating (I’m talking about an uncomfortable amount) to gain enough muscle to look bulky. Basically, we will not get “bulky” by accident.

What if I have already been doing CrossFit or don’t want to go through the fundamental classes?

In our fundamental classes we cover squats, presses, kettle bell swings, Olympic lifts (snatch and clean), etc. If you can show proficiency in technique, we will clear you for the regular classes.

Once one of the trainers clears you for the regular classes, you will be ready CrossFit!

How do I prepare myself before entering the box?

Your first day is the start of a great adventure. Wear some workout clothes, and bring a positive attitude because we’re going to have some fun! The trainer will ask you some questions as to what you hope to achieve from your experience and then we will have you warm up, teach you some basics and give you a workout.
